Since 2022, Utah law has required all public and charter schools to provide free period products to students in all female and unisex restrooms.
The Policy Project wants to ensure that all Utah students have access to period products. We want to recognize schools and districts that regularly provide period products in school restrooms.

Sign up as a Period Compliance Crew volunteer. If we know what schools you can visit in advance, we will know what areas are covered.
We do not expect you to travel far—choose schools near your home or those you visit regularly.
VISIT THE SELECTED SCHOOL THREE TIMES DURING THE SEMESTER
We would love for you to visit each assigned school at least three times in the Fall 2024 semester. If you can report more often, that is great. The law only requires period products to be available in female and unisex restrooms, so please do not report on male or faculty/staff restrooms.
We encourage you to report your observations when you’re already in the school for another purpose. We do not recommend entering a school solely to check the restrooms for period products.
To check for product availability, enter a female or unisex restroom and see if period products (pads and tampons) are available. The products should be free and easily accessible to students. If you can check more than one restroom, please indicate any differences in product availability on the reporting form.
If a school has products available at other locations but not in female and unisex restrooms, this is not in compliance with the law. If this occurs, please indicate that there are no products in the restrooms when reporting.
Take a photo if it is helpful to show what you observed.
Please remember to always follow the school's visitor policies, including signing in at the front office when required, to ensure a smooth and respectful visit.
TELL US WHAT YOU FOUND
Complete this reporting form each time you visit a school to check for period products.
Please submit your observations by December 1, 2024.
A separate form should be completed for each school. Photos can be uploaded with the reporting form or emailed, along with any questions, to lindsay@thepolicyproject.org.
THANK YOU!
Without your time and efforts, we would not be able to gather this important information.
At the end of 2024, results will be compiled, and a summary will be shared with the Utah State Board of Education.
